Copper Cathode Suppliers — LME Grade A from Zambia & DR Congo
Cu-CATH-1 · 99.99% purity · CIF or FOB, buyer’s nominated port

Copper cathodes are electrolytically refined sheets of copper of at least 99.99% purity, and they are the standard traded form of refined copper worldwide. SokoDolla supplies copper cathodes to industrial buyers, smelters, refineries, wire-rod mills and traders, sourced from verified producers across the Zambian Copperbelt and the Haut-Katanga and Lualaba provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
SokoDolla supplies copper cathodes to international buyers from Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We source the material, verify the counterparty and supporting documents, coordinate independent inspection, and support the transaction through loading.
Every cathode enquiry we handle is matched against the specification you give us — grade, brand, tonnage, delivery terms and destination — and priced against the London Metal Exchange at the time of quotation. There is no fixed price list in this trade; a quotation is issued once your requirement and delivery terms are confirmed.

What We Verify Before You Commit
We verify the counterparty, applicable licences, authority to sell, product documentation and independent inspection requirements before a buyer commits. Every engagement follows the SokoDolla Verification Standard.
Buy Copper Cathodes from Zambia & DRC
Buy copper cathodes in commercial quantities, supplied from verified producers in Zambia and the DRC, with the enquiry matched to the required grade, brand, tonnage, origin, destination and delivery terms. Supplier credentials, authority to sell, material documentation and independent inspection can be checked before the transaction proceeds.
For buyers searching for a copper cathode supplier, the practical priorities are product authenticity, specification, lawful origin, availability for the contracted lot and a clear settlement basis. We support buyers through those checks and can coordinate independent assay, loading inspection and export-document review.
How Copper Cathodes Are Priced
Copper cathode is priced against the London Metal Exchange. The starting point is the LME Official Settlement Price for copper Grade A on an agreed pricing date or quotational period, and the traded price is expressed as that figure plus a premium or minus a discount per metric tonne.
Registered LME brands generally command a premium because they are deliverable against an LME warrant. Non-registered but equivalent-quality African brands typically trade at a discount, which is the material most buyers sourcing from Zambia and the DRC will encounter. The size of that discount reflects brand recognition, tonnage, payment terms and delivery point rather than any difference in purity.
Because the LME moves daily, no responsible supplier can quote a fixed price that remains valid indefinitely. When we issue a quotation we state the pricing basis, the quotational period and the validity window, so you know exactly how the final invoice figure will be calculated.
What We Confirm on Every Copper Cathode Lot
Copper is abundant across the Copperbelt, so the metal itself is rarely the question. What decides whether a transaction runs smoothly is the counterparty: whether the company offering the material controls it, holds a current export licence, and can perform against a contract. We verify each of those before an introduction is made.
These are the things a buyer cannot confirm from a desk in Seoul, Shanghai or Madrid, so we confirm them on the ground: that the assay certificate was issued by the laboratory named on it, that the warehouse photographs show the actual lot, that the export licence is current, and that the material is uncommitted and available to ship.
That is the work: verification at source, completed before the transaction proceeds. We verify, document and report every finding in writing, whichever way it points, so you have a clear basis for the decision.
Why Buyers Source Copper Cathodes Through SokoDolla
Specification is the easy part. These are the things that decide whether a shipment actually happens.
Copper cathodes in bonded warehousing
Cathode supply is routed through bonded and private warehouse facilities in Dar es Salaam and on the Zambian Copperbelt. Warehouse entry, customs status, lot identification and authority to sell that lot are confirmed under the SokoDolla Verification Standard, so the material behind an offer is evidenced rather than asserted.
Supply channels we have checked ourselves
Cathode supply routed through Zambian and DRC counterparties whose registration, licence status and authority to sell the specific lot have been confirmed with the issuing bodies — not accepted from a circular.
FOB, CIF and CFR structured to the route
Shipment built around your discharge port and schedule, out of Dar es Salaam, Durban or the Lobito corridor, with inspection points written into the plan rather than added afterwards.
Settlement that follows documents
Documentary letter of credit at sight under UCP 600, or staged telegraphic transfer released against verified milestones. Funds move against evidence.
One team from enquiry to loading
Specification, supplier verification, independent assay, contract review, logistics and the export document pack handled together, so nothing falls between a broker and a forwarder.
Documentation Per Consignment
A complete document set is a condition of every shipment we support. Each item below is verified rather than accepted at face value.
- Certificate of Origin (Form A), issued by the local Chamber of Commerce
- Export permit and, where applicable, mineral export certificate
- SGS or equivalent Certificate of Quality and Quantity issued at the loading port
- Certificate of analysis stating actual chemical composition and non-radioactivity
- Signed commercial invoice and packing list, including bundle tally
- Full set of 3/3 clean-on-board negotiable Bills of Lading, blank endorsed, freight prepaid
- Marine insurance policy at 110% of invoice value (CIF terms)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order quantity for copper cathodes?
Trial shipments commonly start at one container (approximately 25 MT) or a part-vessel lot of 100–500 MT. Long-term programmes are typically structured in monthly lots of 500–3,000 MT. The workable minimum depends on the supplier and the delivery terms, and we confirm it when we issue your quotation.
Are the cathodes LME registered?
Some African producers hold LME-registered brands; much of the material available from the region is non-registered but manufactured to the equivalent Cu-CATH-1 specification of 99.99% purity. We state clearly in every quotation whether the brand offered is LME registered, because it affects both price and resale.
Which payment terms are used for copper cathodes?
Both letters of credit and telegraphic transfer are used. A documentary letter of credit at sight under UCP 600, issued by a prime bank and payable against the shipping and inspection documents, gives the strongest protection. Telegraphic transfer (T/T, MT103) is also standard and widely accepted, typically staged against verified milestones such as warehouse inspection, release of the Bill of Lading and arrival at the destination port. The structure is agreed with each buyer in the sale contract.
Can we appoint our own inspector at the loading port?
Yes, and we encourage it. Buyers are welcome to appoint SGS, Bureau Veritas, Alex Stewart or Intertek at their own cost and to attend loading in person. Independent verification protects everyone.
How long does shipment take from Zambia or the DRC?
Inland haulage from the Copperbelt to Dar es Salaam typically takes 7–14 days, with ocean transit of roughly 20–30 days to Asian ports and 25–40 days to Europe, depending on routing and the shipping line. Timelines are confirmed against the actual booking, not estimated in the abstract.
When is Proof of Product (POP) provided?
Proof of Product is released once the Sale and Purchase Agreement is signed and the buyer’s payment instrument is confirmed or the agreed first milestone is in place. A supplier who publishes full POP to any enquirer before that point is usually recirculating another company’s documents, so the sequence protects both sides. Until then we can share the verification summary, warehouse evidence and assay position we have confirmed ourselves.
How is the discount to LME set for African copper cathodes?
Non-LME-registered Zambian and DRC brands of equivalent Cu-CATH-1 quality normally trade at a single-digit to low-teens percentage discount to the LME reference, and the exact figure moves with tonnage, payment terms, brand recognition and delivery point. The discount to LME is negotiated per lot, so what matters is that the offer states its basis. We quote the LME reference, the pricing basis, the quotational period and the discount in writing rather than a headline number.
Can you supply on FOB, CIF or FCA terms?
Yes. FOB from the load port suits buyers who control their own ocean freight; CIF or CFR to your discharge port suits buyers who want carriage arranged for them, with CIF adding marine cover. FCA against material already in a bonded warehouse is possible where the warehouse position and customs status verify. The workable term depends on the lot and is fixed in the contract under Incoterms 2020.
Is a performance bond available on copper cathode contracts?
A performance bond of around 2% of contract value can be negotiated on larger or recurring CIF programmes, subject to supplier agreement and the payment structure used. It is a commercial term rather than an automatic inclusion, so raise it early if your procurement policy requires one.
What do you need from us to start?
The product, grade, monthly tonnage and contract duration, your destination country and discharge port, the Incoterm you want, and the payment structure you intend to use. A Letter of Intent and company profile speed things up if you already have them, but they are not required to open an enquiry — a free RFQ with those details is enough for us to scope the sourcing.
